This unique morphologic growth feature and architectural growth pattern is a very important distinction in the pathologic diagnosis of colonic tubular adenoma
(137) For example, these biomarkers, along with histologic evaluation, are helpful in identifying dysplastic lesions from inflammatory reactive changes and in distinguishing low- and high-grade dysplasia as well as DALM lesions and sporadic tubular adenoma
were detected in 11 examinations involving sessile serrated adenomas and in six involving traditional serrated adenomas, while tubulovillous adenoma was only detected in one examination involving a sessile serrated adenoma.
* Tubular adenoma
of breast is a rare benign tumor, which accounts for 0.13%-1.7% of breast lesions.
When considering EMPSGC, the differential diagnosis also includes other skin tumors especially nodular basal cell carcinoma, nodular hidradenoma, hidradenocarcinoma, hidrocystoma, apocrine tubular adenoma
, monomorphic adenoma, and dermal duct tumors [1, 2, 6, 8].
Raposo et al., "Multifocal colonic mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma with synchronous tubular adenoma
: a coincidental association?," International Journal of Colorectal Disease, vol.
These diagnoses included the following: mucosal prolapse (Figure 1) (in 2 specimens with hyperplastic polyps and 1 specimen with tubular adenoma
), melanosis coli (Figures 2(a) and 2(b)) (in 2 specimens with tubular adenomas
), hyperplastic polyp (in 1 specimen with tubular adenoma
), and eosinophilic colitis (Figure 3) (in 1 specimen with tubular adenoma
Nephrogenic adenoma (or papillary tubular adenoma
) is a rare, benign metaplastic lesion.[sup.3] Its most characteristic location is in the bladder, especially in the trigone, but it is also found, to a lesser extent, in the urethra and ureters.
Lesions corresponding to the colorectal neoplasia group were further classified into: tubular adenoma
, tubulovillous adenoma, villous adenoma, serrated adenoma, and adenocarcinoma.
James et al considered lacating adenoma to be a pure and readily recognisable morphological form clearly distinguishable from tubular adenoma
and fibroadenoma that is always related to current or recent pregnancy.(2) According to them, most tumors diagnosed as lactating adenomas are diagnosed during pregnancy and do not have lactational secretion.
That recommendation is at odds with the most recent colorectal screening guidelines from the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), issued in 2008, which state: "Individuals with a single first-degree relative with CRC or advanced adenomas diagnosed at [greater than or equal to] 60 years can be screened like average-risk persons." (1) The guidelines further note that a family history of small tubular adenomas
in a first-degree relative is not associated with an increase in risk--a statement that applies even to patients whose family member had a tubular adenoma
before the age of 60.
Some are extremely well differentiated, having the appearance of a colonic tubular adenoma
or villous adenoma.
The lesions studied were: carcinomas, 42; ISCs, 50,(44 bad residual villous adenoma and 6 bad residual tubular adenoma
); vinous and tubulovillous adenomas, 9; tubular adenomas
, 8; and byperplastic polyp, 1.
Pathological examination showed that one of the tubular adenoma
polyps exhibited high-grade dysplasia, while the remaining exhibited low-grade dysphasia.
(2) Shahinian et al (3) described the first case of intraductal neoplasm with tubular configuration, and they named it "tubular adenoma
of the main pancreatic duct" in 1992.
