30am on Sunday, September 17, 1944, they were being towed in a Horsa glider over Somerset towards Arnhem, when it is believed an explosion inside the glider broke the tail away
from the fuselage which crashed in a field at Double Hills on the outskirts of Paulton village, ten miles south of Bristol.
