``For other companies ($277 million) would be a good cash position, but this is the (dynamic random-access memory
) industry and the scale is very different,'' said Kim Gee Soo, an analyst at Nomura Securities in Seoul who has a ``reduce'' rating on the company's stock.
"Many have random-access memory
; once the search is turned off, they forget everything they know about you," he adds.
South Korea's Samsung Electronics, which produces dynamic random-access memory
chips (DRAM), has announced plans to substantially expand its semiconductor business to address an anticipated shortage of DRAM chips.
The two programs require a personal computer with a fast CPU, fast video card, a substantial amount of random-access memory
, and a larg e hard disk.
In the market for dynamic random-access memory
chips, the list of competitors will slowly shrink and the survivors will likely be established makers with strong technology and a good read on the famously fickle DRAM market, they said.
