The ECP claims that it supplied a special "magnetic ink
" for getting thumb impressions of voters on the recommendation of NADRA.
Speaking on a point of order, PTI's Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi demanded strict action against those responsible for not using the magnetic ink
in general elections.
An RO registers the number of ballot papers, their serial numbers, number of irremovable magnetic ink
pads, serial numbers of the electoral lists and the details of the other electoral material and their quantities in the polling invoice.
He said in their petition they had prayed to adopt biometric system in the local government polls and declaring the use of magnetic ink

He appealed to the Election Commission of Pakistan to introduce the same biometric system across the country so that not only billion of rupees could be saved from magnetic ink
but also making the election acceptable for all parties participating in the elections.
The system will use magnetic ink
particles to mark individual documents.
He said that magnetic ink
had nothing to do with voters verification.
Justice Jawwad remarked " ECP is talking of non availability of magnetic ink
after 3 years and 5 months.
