Patients were rated higher on inappropriate affect (1.1 [+ or -] 0.65) than controls (0.63 [+ or -] 0.37)with a large effect size of 0.92.
These results suggest that the information-theoretic measures of emotion expressions are related to the observer-based ratings and computerized measures may provide quantifiable information on different causes of observed inappropriate affect.
