A maturity index for
holothurians exhibiting asynchronous development of gonad tubules.
The specimens under discussion, Cnemidocarpa pfefferi (Michaelsen, 1898), Pyura discoveryi (Herdman, 1910) and Bathypera splendens Michaelsen, 1904, were identified among
holothurians (sea cucumbers) curated at Museums Victoria (NMV) (P Mark O'Loughlin, pers.
The conclusion is that the shape of this
holothurian changes ontogenetically, becoming more elongated as they grow (Herrero-Perezrul et al., 1999).
Although few predators are known to feed on sea cucumbers, several antipredation mechanisms has been described for
holothurians (Francour, 1997) and some of these mechanisms seems to be linked to animal size.
To the best of our knowledge, there were no related methods for the detection of MEQ and metabolites in aquatic animal-derived foods, especially in
holothurian. In this work, for the control of MEQ residues in
holothurian, we presented a novel, sensitive, and rapid UPLC-MS/MS (ultraperformance liquid chromatography coupled with triple-quadrupole mass spectrometry) protocol for simultaneous detection of the three major metabolites of MEQ (MQCA, 1-DMEQ, and BDMEQ structures are shown in Figure 1) in
holothurian.

holothurian), sago, gold, rice, camphor, and bezoar stone (Noboru 2010:41).
Thus, in her poem "Autotomy," Wislawa Szymborska appropriates the image of the
