The renal biopsy showed focal glomerular sclerosis. The remaining glomeruli were notable for distortion of the glomerular architecture by pseudoaneurysmally dilated capillary lumina containing thrombi of bubbly material that stained weakly with hematoxylin-eosin (Figure 1), periodic acid-Schiff (Figure 2), and trichrome.
A biopsy of his kidney shows he has focal glomerular sclerosis (hardening of the filtering apparatus in the kidney).
