flame retardant chemicals, all seven toxic phthalates including Diphthalate, and another toxic chemical, bisphenol A, which is used in the manufacture of some plastics.
Regarding indoor air exposures, the network brings together knowledge on a wide range of pollutant sources including ETS, allergens, molds, organic dust (endotoxins), formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds, chlorination by-products and cleaning products, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), bromated
flame retardants, pesticides, radon daughters, and finally, asbestos.
The nine-inch shells are available in traditional, whole wheat and spelt varieties, and are free of conventionally refined sugar, bleached and bromated
flour, trans fats, and hydrogenated fats and oils.
We don't use bromated
flour; it has a chemical in it that bleaches the flour and adds volume without developing flavor during the baking process.
While the FDA has not banned the use of bromated
flour, they do urge bakers to voluntarily leave it out," say the Caltons.
