Peri-anal surgeries are commonly performed on day care basis under saddle block anaesthesia. To reduce hospital stay, anesthetic medications should be kept at minimum possible level which permit early mobilization without pain and residual complications of anaesthesia.
Time of discharge is mainly dependent on time to micturate after saddle block anaesthesia.
The present study is designed to evaluate the effects of addition of Dexmedetomidine (10 [micro]g) to hyperbaric bupivacaine 0.5% for saddle block anaesthesia in terms of onset and duration of sensory block, post-operative analgesia.
Saddle block anaesthesia for all patients in study was given by the same anaesthesiologist who was the observer too.
