In the introductory remarks of PG, Bishop Paul-Andre Durocher impressively states the goal of pastoral care of students in Catholic schools: "to help them be formed in the image of Christ." He
acknowledges that "we have not always been sensitive to the particular needs of students with a same-sex orientation." Yet, although making the school community a truly Christian environment is a crucial goal of the resource guide, he wants us to know (unlike Arbour and Blackburn who want gayness "affirmed" and "accepted") that unless the dangers concerning homosexual inclination and practice are faced and accompany the Church's sound pastoral teaching and guidance, we will not succeed in meeting the needs of these students.
If no such definitions exist, then it seems to me that at some point in the future members of minority religions will attempt to assert their right to "
acknowledge God" and inevitably someone not of that religion will object and then the courts will try to decide what it means to "
acknowledge God."
I think everyone should

It is also important to
acknowledge our own values and perspectives.
Assessing a page-one December 2001 article that promulgated a bogus tale about biological, chemical and nuclear weapons facilities in Iraq, the editors' note says that "in this case it looks as if we, along with the administration, were taken in." The same tone echoes through an internal memo to the Times newsroom from the paper's executive editor, Bill Keller, on May 26: "The purpose of the [published] note is to
acknowledge that we, like many of our competitors and many officials in Washington, were misled on a number of stories by Iraqi informants dealing in misinformation."
The learning goals were to: (1)
acknowledge the importance of the issue; (2a) understand that there is no single "Christian" response to the issue; (2b) describe the different responses; (3) identify the reasons behind these responses; (4) recognize that one's specific moral values may not be shared by society at large, or even by other adherents to one's religious tradition.

The thing about Danny is he gets sooooo unbelievably stoned that it's sometimes hard to
acknowledge the credibility of what he's saying.
