At 2 years, sporadic incidences of acinar adenoma and
acinar carcinoma were observed in all dosed groups except those administered 100 ng/kg.
Furthermore, the prostatic carcinoma in our case was predominantly peripheral, in contrast to the classical periurethral location of prostatic ductal carcinoma, and showed the micropapillary pattern to be intimately admixed with areas of conventional
acinar carcinoma. (9) In addition, the micropapillary and conventional acinar components had similar cytologic features on hematoxylin-eosin staining, as well as identical homogeneous immunohistochemical staining patterns.
Although in earlier literature, (3) the term intraductal carcinoma of the prostate has been used variably to describe the extension of prostatic
acinar carcinoma, prostatic ductal carcinoma, and urothelial carcinoma into prostatic ducts and acini, currently IDC-P refers to a lumen-spanning proliferation of malignant cells within prostatic ducts and acini caused by the spread of prostate cancer cells within preexisting prostatic glandular structures.
(110) An investigation of global microRNA expression patterns in normal pancreas, PENs, and acinar cell carcinomas showed that a particular pattern of microRNA expression distinguishes PEN from normal pancreas and
acinar carcinoma, suggesting that this set of microRNAs might be involved in PEN tumorigenesis.
Case 29 was pleural fluid, classified as
acinar carcinoma. The tumors in these patients were compared with the tumors in a group of 23 patients treated during the same period who had adenocarcinoma that failed to respond to gefitinib (n = 7) or erlotinib (n = 16).
