Before the dentist takes the final impression, the assistant must remove any pieces of provisional acrylic material that may be stuck on the abutment tooth or on the occlusal surfaces of the teeth neighboring the abutment tooth.
In line with this, researchers have established the use of a shell similar to an individual dental tray for a prepared tooth, like an abutment tooth, thus allowing more control of the minimal thickness of the material and generating a smaller disturbance compared to an individual dental tray.
