Muscat: As part of the celebrations of the 43rd National Day, a team of eight expert pastry chefs at Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa baked the largest strawberry peach sponge cake in the country -- measuring five metres by two metres.

They come in a variety of flavors, including Apple Pear, Mixed Berry, Peach Apricot Pear, Pineapple, Strawberry, Strawberry Orange Mango, and Strawberry Peach Fig.

Known then as "yang tao" (literally strawberry peach) or "Chinese gooseberries" in English, this funny fuzzy brown fruit wasn't introduced to the U.S.
