The Clean Air Act Amendments (CAA) of 1990 required the use of oxygenated gasoline in areas with unhealthy levels of air pollution.
For example, requiring reformulated oxygenated gasoline has increased prices by 4 to 8 cents per gallon, according to the Federal Trade Commission.
