Do urban American Crows (Corvus brachyrbynchos) contribute to population declines of the Common Nighthawk (Chordeiles
Estimates of relative abundance for elf owls, lesser nighthawks (Chordeiles
acutipennis), and common nighthawks (Chordeiles
minor) were calculated over the 3-month sampling period of April June because these species are migratory and were present on Galvan Ranch only during that period.
Common Nighthawk (Chordeiles

Four species [wood duck (Aix sponsa), great horned owl (Bubo virginianus), belted kingfisher (Megaceryle alcyon), American crow] were found only in main stem buffers; three species [broad-winged hawk (Buteo platypterus), sharp-shinned hawk (Accipiter striatus), common nighthawk (Chordeiles
minor)] were found only in tributary reference sites.
Mount (1981) attributed the decline of the common nighthawk (Chordeiles
minor), common ground-dove (Columbina passerina), and eastern meadowlark (Sturnella magna) to RIFA predation in southern Alabama.
Prey selection by big brown bats (Eptesicus fuscus) and common nighthawks (Chordeiles

Common nighthawk (Chordeiles
minor), Wilson's warbler (Wilsonia pusilla), chipping sparrow (Spizella passerina), lark sparrow (Chondestes grammacus) and song sparrow (Melospiza melodia) were other ground-nesting birds that did not differ between seral stages.
The purpose of our study was to collect data for flight speeds of foraging common nighthawks (Chordeiles
minor) flying under natural conditions using a Doppler radar and compare them with data collected by timing flights over a known distance for the same species (Brigham and Fenton, 1991).
The purpose of this study was to assess the diet of common nighthawks (Caprimulgidae: Chordeiles
minor) in relation to insect abundance in the Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan.
Nests of mourning doves (Zenaida macroura), common nighthawks (Chordeiles
minor), upland sandpipers, and lark sparrows (Chondestes grammacus) were present in very small numbers calculated by Mayfield (1961, 1975).
