Frank Pellow from IBM, and a Canadian representative to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Database Languages Working Group said, "We are very pleased that the X/Open SQL Access Group has been a driving behind ISO's work in the area of Call Level Interface.
The SQL Access Group started in 1989, and is best known for developing the standard SQL Call Level Interface (SQL/CLI), which formed the basis for Microsoft Corp.
To do this, Informix is using the Visigenic ODBC Software Development Kit (SDK) and ODBC Driver for Informix as the foundation for the Informix open Call Level Interface (CLI).
All future work will now be formally carried out under the auspices of X/Open, and will include an aggressive schedule of technical developments, such as further work on SQL, Stored Procedures, and the SQL Call Level Interface.
