14 January 2013 - US carmaker General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) could dispose of its German unit Adam Opel AG to its French alliance partner PSA Peugeot Citroen SA (EPA:UG) despite GM management's recent comments that Opel would not be sold, French daily La Tribune cited today an unnamed insider as saying.
But GM's net profit for the October-December quarter dropped 7.5 percent from a year earlier to $472 million, affected by the $562 million deficit posted at its European operations due to sluggish business of its affiliate Adam Opel AG, a major German automaker.
