The upper-class boy resists, advancing the traditional arguments against paederasty
When I submitted "Paederasty
in the Western Mind" (published in the Fall, 1999, issue of this journal), Congress had not yet made its latest contribution to the long history of demonization of paederasty
that my article describes.
Issue #16 (1954) included a translation of an essay by Albert Moore on the subjects of paederasty
, oral fixation, onanism, and mutual masturbation.
Both novels celebrate paederasty
with gusto, but have their own horrific moments, which at times reflect badly on the men.
Here again his strategy resembles Gide's, who, we recall, drew a sharp contrast between his own virile paederasty
and the effeminate inversion of Oscar Wilde.
