Starting with the Queen Mary, seven of the last 20 (35 per cent) were won by January foals despite them accounting for just 13 per cent of the runners, while Damson (2004) and Shining Hour (1999), who were foaled in April, are the only winners during this period who had foaling dates later than March 27.
The Coventry hasn't been such a good race for January foals (ten per cent of winners from 12 per cent of runners in the last 20 years), but 11 of the last 20 (55 per cent) were won by juveniles foaled in February, which is a healthy return when you consider February foals have accounted for 30 per cent of the runners in this period.

in March, and wasn't an immediate standout among the 2004 foal crop at Petches Farm, although he impressed enough at the foal sales to warrant a final bid of 26,000gns from Tim Corby's Equine Services.

2000 by Red Ransom out of Style Setter, by Manila Bred and owned by Will Farish, Casual Look was retired to his Lane's End Farm in Kentucky where she delivered a colt by Lane's End sire Kingmambo in April.
Toujours Irish (1790), an unraced half-sister to high-class French filly Athyka (dam of Grade 1 winner Atticus), foaled
this year's Prestige Stakes winner Dubai Surprise and is now carrying to Fasliyev.
