Crystal arthritis is the disease of a joint due to the deposition of crystals in the joint while gout is a medical condition generally indicated by frequent problems of severe inflammatory arthritis a red, tender, hot, swollen joint due to increased uric acid in the blood which crystallize and are deposited in joints, tendons, and nearby tissues.
However, for the 23 cases in which gout or pseudogout was listed as the leading diagnostic possibility and the initial examination was negative, 5 (22%; 95% CI, 7-44%) were confirmed as crystal arthritis with the repeat examination.
